John moving from room to room in his dressing gown, you preparing something exotic in the kitchen, and dear Madge (John's sister) crocheting dish cloths in the garden. Sublimely ridiculous! You were always my refuge whenever I needed digs near Birmingham. Best digs ever! Always music, always the smells of something on the boil, always an open bottle, and always the joy of glorious unexpurgated gossip. Happiest of memories. Goodbye, dear friend.
